“According to the rules of the detective novel, bourgeois legality and crime are two opposites” or so sayeth some academic who has actually written on Benjamin and detective fiction (seriously I must find some way to put all my British Cozy knowledge to some publication).


In any case, despite my familiarity with the deeply bougie, restoration of order and morality, critique of the mystery, I still love them.  


So the little grey cells and I are calling it a night and watching this new Poirot because for beautifully stuffy mysteries, you really cannot beat the BBC.
